About the Baker: Hi! I am Kristy, one of the owners and the only baker at Simple Sweets. Like most other cookiers I started this business because one of my love languages is feeding others, specifically making treats. I have been baking since my youth, many moons ago, and have developed and perfected all of my own recipes for my favorite things. After many years of being told I should open a bakery I decided to test the waters and see if others agreed. In January of 2018 I made a post on Facebook and received instant feedback, and orders!
Fast forward to now, we have survived the Corona and are grateful for the continued support and patronage from our local area! There are many amazing and talented bakers in our area and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to be counted among them.
Since this is a Cottage Bakery, it is operated out of my home. Here are a few facts: I wanted to go beyond a food handlers permit, I have spent the extra time to be educated and trained as a Food Manager and thereby have my Food Manager License. My home and more importantly my kitchen are pet free and smoke free. I am an ingredient snob and only use the highest quality ingredients. I have a few things that I cannot get locally and pay to have shipped in because compromising is not an option.
I try to be as easy as possible to work with. Most other cookiers and bakers have very strict policies regarding ordering timelines, deposits, payments and pickup times. I do this because I love baking, not trying to take over the world. I try to be flexible and available as much as possible and I understand that life happens. I am a mother to 4 amazing children who have sports and school and all of the things; life happens in our home as well. I have learned that by being mutually respectful of time, we can usually work scheduling issues out and all come out on top! I hope to be able to bake for you and share my love of sweets.
